⚡️🇪🇸🇮🇹🚨Spain has introduced random checks on travelers from Italy from midnight, as a retaliatory measure after Rome refused to lift extraordinary checks on arrivals from Spain.

🔻Madrid will maintain the checks until September 7, unless an early change is made. Identities and nationalities will be checked, and for non-EU citizens, visas and residence permits will also be verified.

🔻Spanish Foreign Minister José Manuel Albares has described the Italian checks as "undeserving", arguing that secondary movements of migrants from Spain to Italy are "practically zero". Albares has also pointed out that for every Spanish resident in Italy, there would be ten Italian residents in Spain.
